Area Police
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important political figure stated the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
